Notable Venues

Formed in the summer of 2002, at a beach volleyball game, Sunchunck has solidified its place in the original music scene of Boston and its North Shore. Coming from different musical backgrounds, this trio’s positive energy, fan interaction, and irresistible sound has made them a favorite for live shows. Voted and Top Rock Act and 4th (of 300+) most popular unsigned original band in the 2006 international Emergenza Festival, Sunchunck has played national venues in the Boston area, such as the Middle East (Cambridge, MA), the Paradise Lounge & Rock Club, Harper’s Ferry (Allston, MA), Bill’s Bar and The Avalon.

Sunchunck is vested in its fans and its community, forming a non-profit music program for the Boys & Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley (Salisbury, MA) called KidzRock, in 2004. Respecting and loving the USA, their rock version of God Bless America has been placed on DVD and presented to troops nationwide. They’ve hosted their own Fan Appreciation Night and participated in numerous shows for charity.

Sunchunck released its first album “On The Map” in 2004 and most-recently presented their radio-friendly (WAAF 107.3FM, WHEB 100.3FM, WXRV 92.5FM) EP “L8” in 2007. With their positive stage-presence and live-show energy, Sunchunck is preparing to spread its sound in 2010.

BRETT A. MANOLOFF “BAM”:

DRUMS & PERCUSSION, BACKING VOCALS

Hailing from Cleveland, OH, BAM has been playing in rock bands since age 19. Meeting JC and Mike in 2002, he filled in the missing piece to the Sunchunck puzzle; his Hard Rock style complements Catino and Bertolami perfectly.

Anchoring the rhythm section, Manoloff has brought back foot-stomping rock-and-roll to the Pop scene. BAM has played the violin, guitar and piano, but settled into drumming as a teenager, being influenced by the theatrics of Tommy Lee and Lars Ulrich. Known for his outrageous live-show make-up and hair, BAM keeps the fans rocking to the beat.

MIKE BERTOLAMI:

LEAD VOCALS, BASS GUITAR,

HARMONICA, KEYBOARD

Mike grew up in Burlington, MA, playing his first song on the hamper, at age 8. At Burlington High School, he excelled at sports, baseball and hockey earning League All-Stars

Mike’s love for music and his unbelievable creativity drive the hooks that make Sunchunck’s songs so easy to remember. Mike rocks the bass guitar and also taught himself how to play the harmonica and piano. His powerful vocals make songs like L8 and Flower fan-favorites.

He was voted Best Bassist in Boston for the Emergenza Festival in 2006.

JOHN CATINO “JC” :

LEAD VOCALS, GUITARS

Originally from Newark, New Jersey, John Catino attended Berklee College of Music, in Boston, MA. In his Junior and Senior years, at Bloomfield High School (NJ), JC was an All-State Jazz Guitar player.

JC’s talent as a lead-guitarist is unmatched, receiving the award of Best Guitarist in Boston for the international Emergenza Festival, in 2006, at the Avalon Ballroom. He is also the heart and soul of Sunchunck’s melodies and three-part harmonies.

Catino’s energetic stage performances drive Sunchunck’s live shows and create a connection between the music and the fans.
