A laid-back trio that includes Bertolami, John Catino, and Brett Manoloff.

Sunchunck was the top rock act and placed fourth overall in last summer’s Boston Emergenza Music Festival playing their hard-to-pigeonhole sound for crowds at the Middle East, Avalon and Paradise

In the last five years, Sunchunck is very proud of:

The rabid local following they've developed (that means you!) The collaborative effort it takes to write their original songs To have had the airplay they’ve received from local radio stations like WXRV (92.5 FM) and WHEB (100.3 FM) and WAAF (107.3 FM)  The Non-Profit organization they founded called Kidz Rock, a hands-on music program band members started at the Boys & Girls Club of Lower Merimack Valley.

Sunchunck is also proud of something they say differentiates themselves from other musicians:

“A lot of bands out there are negative ... We try to be like, ‘You know what, I had a great upbringing, I don't hate my family and we still [expletive] rock.”

Band History

Sunchunck arrived on the North Shore of Boston five years ago when the band’s three founding members discovered they all had something in common besides beach volleyball. This pop rock trio has quickly become a local favorite for its original music and ability to relate to its audience. Airtime on major radio stations WXRV 92.5, WHEB 100.3 and Boston’s WAAF 107.3 have helped spread their unique sound.

Today, they find themselves a little “L8” releasing their new four-song EP by the same name. Intended for release in June 2007, the band decided to put a few finishing touches on the CD and officially release it at The Grog (Newburyport, MA) on August 4th, 2007. This 7-track effort includes an already fan-favorite “Butterfly,” “L8” and an acoustic version of Sunchunck’s most popular song, “Living My Life Again.”

Want to know what makes Sunchunck so popular? Go to their live show! Their fun energetic style and relationship with their audience leaves fans feeling appreciated and part of a fun and positive message! Their musicianship appeals to those who appreciate real music played by real people, inspiring comparisons to varied artists such as Hootie & the Blowfish, Barenaked Ladies, Dave Matthews Band, and Bad Company. Sunchunck’s live performances are more then just recitations of ear-catching material; they invite the audience to participate in an event.

Sunchunck is involved with its fans and also with its community. At the local Boys & Girls Club, their music charity, KidzRock, gives children the opportunity to take lessons and learn how to play instruments. Sunchunck is there every Thursday and has already introduced over 20 kids to a life of music appreciation. It’s not surprising that people of all ages embrace the Sunchunck message: life and music are meant to be positive and energetic! See and hear them play and you’ll feel that message.

Brett Andrew Manoloff (BAM) - as he has been named by his band mates, is a power-packed metronome who comes from a heavy metal background. Although we let him keep his sunset-colored hair and tattoos, we also made him buy some smaller drum sticks so people could hear the rest of the band. Reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, he’s bringing back real drumming and inspiring foot-stomping rock n roll.
